Donald Trump Appoints PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi To Strategic And Policy Forum



PepsiCo Chairman Indra Nooyi has joined Donald Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum that will assist the President-elect in implementing his economic agenda. Mr Trump’s transition team said that forum members will give him their views on government policy, job-creation and productivity “in a frank, non-bureaucratic and non-partisan manner.” 

 Indra Nooyi, 61, is the only Indian-American executive in the 19-member President’s Strategic and Policy Forum, which was first announced early this week. “America has the most innovative and vibrant companies in the world, and the pioneering CEOs joining this Forum today are at the top of their fields,” Mr Trump said.

“My administration is going to work together with the private sector to improve the business climate and make it attractive for firms to create new jobs across the United States from Silicon Valley to the heartland,” he said.The forum headed by Stephen Schwarzman, the CEO of the investment company Blackstone also includes Jack Welch, the former CEO of General Electric, and CEOs Elon Musk of SpaceX and Tesla, Uber’s Travis Kalanick; Jamie Dimon of Chase and Mary Barra of General Motors. 

 Ms Nooyi is the head of a multinational firm with an annual revenue of $63 billion that employs 110,000 people. She graduated from Madras Christian College in Chennai and has management degrees from the Indian Institute of Management in Kolkata and Yale University. 

 Earlier Ms Trump had appointed Shalabh Kumar, the chair of the Republican Hindu Coalition, to the transition finance and the inauguration teams. The finance team members review prospects for administration positions and makes recommendations to Mr Trump and the inauguration team organises the festivities for his swearing in as president on January 20

China on Tuesday unveiled its J-20 stealth fighter jet at its biggest air show which will have major implications for India as it is the first indigenously-made fifth-generation Chinese aircraft which Pakistan has shown interest in acquiring. Two J-20 aircraft which made waves in the Chinese media in the last few years flew at the Zhuhai city air show where the Pakistan Air Force is also taking part flying with its J-17 Thunder jets which are jointly manufactured with China. This is the first, public show of the J-20 warplane. Pakistan, the largest importer of Chinese arms has said earlier that it is in talks with China to buy the FC-31 - an export variant of the same aircraft. The FC-31 was briefly flown in the 2014 Zhuhai airshow. Strengthening its base in Kashmir, the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has gone for its first real estate investment in the trouble-torn Valley. The right wing party has signed an “agreement” to buy a residential house on the high-security Airport Road in Srinagar. Located in Hyder Pora locality, the 2-storeyed-house lies near the residence of senior separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Official sources in judiciary privy to the deal said that the party opted for “agreement” with the actual owner of the property, while almost 80% payment has been made. Sources said the BJP will “own the building through a trust.” Till now, the party operates from a government-owned accommodation, a house at J-1 Jawahar Nagar in south city.  Sources said that the sale deed for the new building around Kanal land would be signed in the coming days.
