Indian Navy takes delivery of new water jet fast attack craft(WJFAC)~ INS Tihayu

The Indian Navy has taken delivery of the new water jet fast attack craft (WJFAC), Tihayu, from the Indian shipbuilding company Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE).
Eastern Naval Command chief staff officer Rear Admiral SR Sarma conducted a final inspection of the ship before accepting its delivery.
The indigenously constructed and highly manoeuvrable vessel is an upgraded version of the previously designed WJFAC by GRSE, which constructed and delivered ten WJFACs to the Indian Navy during the 2009 to 2011 period.
INS Tarmugli is the first of the WJFAC follow-on series and was commissioned into service in May 2016.Tihayu is the second of a follow-on series of four more WJFACs that were ordered by the Indian Navy. Christened after an island in Andaman, India, Tihayu was launched in June 2015.
The 48m-long vessel features a hull form developed by the in-house Design Centre of GRSE, and can cruise at speeds of more than 35k.
With a displacement capacity of around 315t, Tihayu has a range of approximately 2,000nm and can accommodate a crew of 29 in modern habitability conditions.
Tihayu is propelled by three water jet propulsion systems, powered by marine diesel engines that generate 2,720kW of power. It is equipped with a CRN-91 indigenous 30mm gun to support during attack missions.
