LCA TEJAS TO START TANKER REFUELLING TRIALS BY MARCH 2017

by IDRW

DRDO chairperson S. Christopher speaking at a press conference on LCA-TEJAS confirmed that first prototype LCA-Tejas integrated with IFR (In-Flight Refueling) probe will fly in next few days as series of ground probe trials are inching towards completion .

Christopher confirmed that tanker trials will commence from March 2017 and IAF will depute a Single Ilyushin IL-78 air-to-air refuelling tanker aircraft for the program to help complete trials so that Final Operational Clearance is achieved by mid of 2017 .

Well-informed sources close to idrw.org in past had confirmed this development and also had said that Tanker Refuel trials have been planned for nearly two months from March 2017 and nearly 20-30 air-to-air refuelling (AAR) test trials will be conducted to clear mid-air refuelling capabilities for LCA-Tejas .

Generated data will be used to carry out internal assessments if further AAR test trials will be needed and if all components of refuelling probe have cleared certification .
