Turkmenistan's air chief flight tested LCA Tejas.


Few days ago Defense Minister of India, MR. Manohar Parrikar, stated that home grown HAL Tejas is ready for international export to friendly countries and now DRDO Chief S. Christopher said to Indian media that indigenous light combat aircraft (LCA)-Tejas was flown by Air chief of Turkmenistan and Turkmenistan is among few countries which has shown interest in the combat jet and with whom India is carrying out the discussion for its export .
In fact, Turkmenistan’s Chief of Air Staff had a hands-on experience flying the Indian military jet to become the second Chief of Air Staff to pilot Tejas. In May, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, flew Tejas during a 40 minute sortie over Bengaluru and neighbouring areas of Tamil Nadu.
Turkmen air force is currently having 20 to 25 MiG 29 fighters and 20 Su 25 ground attack and close air support aircrafts. During Bahrain Air Show, which was the first international appearance of Tejas outside India, an unknown middle eastern country shown the interest on Tejas.
Specification of Tejas:

HAL Tejas is the 4th generation, single engine, light weight, mach 2 capable multirole fighter which is having compound delta wing design. The wing design of this aircraft gives wide external storage, better in close combat, high speed and high alfa performance and the extensive RAM coating, carbon fiber composite and Y duct intakes reduces RCS which comprises semi-stealth aircraft. The aircraft uses Elbit EL/M-2032 multi mode radar and DASH HMD, CSIO-HUD, and ring laser gyroscope. Other than these, Tejas is featured with relax static stability, digital fly by wire system and Hands-On-Throttle-And-Stick (HOTAS).
The payload capacity is upto 4000 kg with 8 hard points 3 under each wing, 1 in the center and the 8th offset under port side intake is for FLIR, IRST and Laser Rangefinder or designation.
Powered by single General Electric F 404 IN20 can produce 90 KN of Thrust and gives thrust to weight ratio of 1.07 g-limit of +8/-3.5 g. With the maximum speed of 1.8 mach and 2500kgs of internal fuel tank, the aircraft's average range is upto 3000kms and combat radius of 500km. The service ceiling of aircraft is 50,000 fts.
